I think the lack of answers, proves a point. It doesn't happen. Joking, Religious activities works if you're into that kind of stuff. 

It's hard to meet people nowadays, unless you go to a nightclub, and most of them are drunks. I gave up 10 years ago, and I'm much happier this way!

I've met people through attending enrichment workshops and fairs, which also simultaneously helped myself in a big way.  Then there's always by taking up a new sport and joining the group classes; try a bit of kickboxing or dance, chances are you'll be paired up with someone you can get to know.  Or maybe a cooking class, you never know just how wonderful the person who blew up a wok might be (true story!).  Or if you're religious, go to a church or temple that encourages its followers to mix together (I'm currently in Hillsong as a Christian and as a volunteer... I've lost track of how many people I've met there already!).
